About Aegis Financial

What investment product does Aegis offer?

Aegis offers a unique, patent pending investment vehicle that combines fixed returns of 3-5% along with quick and easy access to your cash. Click here to learn more about our product.

How is my rate of return determined?

Your return is based on your total account balance. Returns range from 3% for account balances of $20,000 to 5% for account balances of $250,000 or more. Click here to see our rates.

How is your product different from other real estate investments such as a REIT?

Aegis owns, operates, and invests in income-producing real estate and real estate-backed securities, which produce consistent income to Aegis allowing us to offer a fixed return to investors. While your investment is secured by real estate, your return is not tied directly to the performance of such real estate assets. Rather, your return is fixed, like that of a savings account or CD. Investors enjoy the benefits of a real estate portfolio without the risk or exposure.

How is your product different from traditional savings and time deposit accounts?

First, we are not a bank nor do we offer any banking products or services. That said, with yields of 3 to 5%, Aegis provides a much higher rate of return than is traditionally offered by bank savings accounts. Also, unlike a CD, there is no minimum investment term; funds are accessible for withdrawal at anytime without any fees or penalties.

How do your returns compare to today's savings account rates?

Our returns of 3 - 5% are significantly higher than those of traditional savings accounts. While savings rates can vary and often change, the average yield is generally less than 1%.

Is Aegis insured by the FDIC?

No. Aegis Financial is not a federally insured financial institution. We are a private real estate portfolio and investment firm. As an investor, you have a liquidation preference to the assets of Aegis, including any real estate in our portfolio, up to 100% of your investment. The actual security offered by Aegis is a limited liability company "Preferred Return Unit" (PRU).

What is a Preferred Return Unit (PRU)?

"PRU" stands for "Preferred Return Unit" and represents the security issued to the investor (or "PRU Holder") upon investment. Each "PRU" is set at $1.00 and will not increase or decrease in value. As such, a $50,000 investment, for example, would equate to the purchase of 50,000 PRU's.

How else is my investment protected?

In addition to a liquidation preference to 100% of the real estate and real estate-backed securities in the Aegis portfolio, your investments are also bonded and safeguarded through various insurance policies, ensuring the liquidity of your investment at all times. Additionally, all investor funds are administered by an independent accounting firm through a trust account.

Who is eligible to invest in Aegis?

Only accredited investors may invest in Aegis, which means that you must meet certain thresholds as defined by the Securities and Exchange Commission. As an individual investor, you must have an annual income per individual of over $200,000 per year ($300,000 per couple) with the expectation of that continuing, or a net worth of more than $1 million, excluding the value of a primary residence. For additional information on who qualifies as an accredited investor, including how an LLC, corporation, or trust can qualify, see http://www.sec.gov/answers/rule506.htm.

Is there a minimum required balance?

Yes. You must maintain a minimum investment of at least $20,000.

When will my funds become available upon deposit?

Funds are available once your funds are transmitted by your financial institution, which would typically be anywhere from 3 to 6 business days from the day your completed investment documents are received.

When does the fixed return begin to accrue to my account?

The fixed return (calculated on a daily basis) will begin to accrue once funds have been actually received by Aegis.

How are returns paid?

Based on your preference, your fixed return is paid monthly by check, ACH, or through the automatic reinvestment of funds back into your account, which is the equivalent of the purchase of additional PRUs.
